The State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) is an independent body that makes and reviews a range of administrative decisions related to commercial and civil disputes, planning and development matters, vocational regulation and the appointment of guardians and administrators. SAT's approach is informal, flexible and transparent.
SAT is not a court and, therefore, strict rules of evidence do not apply. SAT encourages the resolution of disputes through mediation and allows parties to represent themselves or to be represented by a lawyer or person with relevant experience.
SAT holds hearings in public in most cases and provides reasons for all of its decisions and publishes most decisions on its website.
